The Hill / St. Louis/ Est. 1924
MissouriBaking Co.
A hundred years of Italian baking, from a counter on Edwards Street. Cookies by the pound, cannoli, napoleons, and gooey butter cake by the box. No seating, no fuss. Just the case, the line, and a box to carry home.
Before you drive over
Closed Sunday and Monday
Tuesday through Saturday, eight in the morning until four in the afternoon. It’s grab and go, there’s no seating, and the line moves fast even when it’s crowded.

What’s in the case
Read off the trays, one name card at a time. What’s out on any given day varies, so treat this as the range rather than a promise.
Google’s own summary of the shop puts it about as plainly as anyone could: a traditional bakery offering Italian sweets and other European desserts, from cannoli to napoleons.
And from the counter
Not everything is a cookie
- Chocolate drops
- The one they’re most known for.
- Cannoli
- Ricotta.
- Napoleons
- One reviewer ate theirs first.
- Gooey butter cake
- Plain, and strawberry.
- Tiramisu
- Sugar-free
- In the case, not an afterthought.

“They follow traditional recipes and bake with love; that makes them worth the drive for me.”

Boxed for the drive
Gooey butter cake
Plain and strawberry, boxed and labelled with the same three lines they print on everything: established 1924, 2027 Edwards St, and the phone number.
It travels well. One reviewer found it difficult to choose only four items, then ate the napoleon first.

... It is a small, family-owned Italian bakery that is always busy, but in a good way. When you walk in, it feels very authentic and welcoming - the staff is talking with customers, helping people pick out items, and it just has that classic neighborhood bakery vibe. It is not fancy at all, but that is part of what makes it so good.
We have been going to this delicious establishment for decades! It IS the best Italian bakery in STL.. Their service and selection is second to none!!!! Thank you for all of your efforts! And look at all these scrumptious treats they make for us!
Friendly, efficient service. Everything looked fresh & smelled wonderful. It was difficult only choosing 4 items. Ate the Napoleon first. Delicious. Plan to stop here again on our next visit to St Louis.
The Missouri Baking Company is a boisterous, wonderfully scented, incredibly friendly bakery...as it should be since it is located on The Hill! The staff are always outgoing, friendly, and knowledgeable. ... I also appreciate that they have delicious sugar-free options for people like my mom.
